 | Short Account of the Parents of Walter and David Moffat 1867 - 1900 This small 24 page booklet was written by David Moffat and approved by his brother Walter Moffat. It was written in Greenock in January 1867. A “General Note” on page 23 reads:
“As will be seen, the history of the family and the numerous connections was drawn up by David Moffat in 1867, and was added to by him from time to time until his death on 1st January 1900, at Newcastle-on-Tyne.
Since then, my sisters Helen and Carrie have obtained and given me valuable information and connected up many links. Great care has been taken and much time spent in verifying the information so as to make it reliable.
My early connection with this history was when a boy at school and about 14 years old, I wrote out my father's statement in 1867 from many notes of his, into the back of a book chosen by him, and this book is still in the faily but is becoing the worse for wear.
John Knox Moffat
Newcastle-on-Tyne
10th April 1916”
