• Notes

  One descendant identified Richard E. Moffett as Henry's father and Arthur H. Moffett as his grandfather with no sources, dates, places cited. Also, contrary the old Scottish custom for naming their children after paternal then maternal grandparents, the name Richard does not appear in John's descendancy chart and the name Arthur appears once - in the 9th generation! The lineage records of another Clan Moffat member (ID 33) recounts the relocation of the sons of their progenitor who settled in Calvert Co MD: one each in Kent and Cecil Cos MD, (where some descendants are still living) and Richard (born about 1678) who crossed the Potomac River to Fairfax Co VA. Until about 1745, the counties evolving were Stafford, Richmond, King George, and Prince William - all counties in which these 3 brothers and their spouses are identifiable. Without some contrary evidence, it would appear that Richard is not a part of this family. [1]
