Also 7 of his children who died in infancy Also Agnes and John Tait children of Joseph Tait and Isabella Moffat and Grandchildren of the above Adam Moffat who died in October 1854 And June 1856 aged 13 and 10 months respectfully. Also Charlotte Tait died Decr 17, 1858 aged 20 months. Also Elizabeth Austin Spouse of the above Adam Moffat died Octr 1st 1871 aged 89 years. Also Charlotte Moffat, daughter of the above Adam Moffat who died 10th Feby 1875 aged 60 years Also Isabella Moffat, wife of the said Joseph Tait, who died 21st of July 1898, aged 75 years.   [Adapted by Alaric Faulkner from reminiscences of Lizzie Tait Gallaher, Notes of Stella Fox Beam] Adam Moffat married Elizabeth Austin, who lived to be 90 years old. She had 13 children, by Adam Moffat and lived to see them all but three of them die. She, like so many, was a religious woman and knew the Bible by heart. Her uncle took her to bring up and educated her in London. He was a British general who had four sons. He bequeathed a share of his estate to Elizabeth, but the oldest son had the will changed by codicil because of his large family. Nevertheless her uncle left her a nice big stone home in Moffat and she lived there all the rest of her life. It was a home for preachers and for her grandsons when their mothers died. She brought up Adam Johnson, her daughter Ann’s [Marian’s] son, who later came to Newfoundland and lived there all his life. She also brought up Adam Moffat, her daughter Ann's boy. Elizabeth and Adam had only one son who lived to be 13 years old. He [fell] over a precipice when fishing with some boys. His father sent him to weeding onions so he'd stay at home and when some boys came along to tease him he went to his mother and teased her till she gave him some bread and butter and told him shortly to go out and not come back--much to her grief when he was brought back injured.
