Maureen Lee (McVearry) Moffett of Arnold, Maryland died August 4, 2021 after a brief illness. Her children, Carl, Paul and Laura Moffett were with her when she passed. Maureen was predeceased by her husband Carl in 2020. Upon Carl's passing, Maureen, was never quite the same. The two were best friends for more than 60 years, and they had many terrific adventures together. Through Carl's career they lived in several countries, and upon his retirement they traveled the world and the continental US visiting national parks and cherished friends along the way. In her final year, Maureen became Steve Harvey's biggest fan. She watched Family Feud every night saying frequently, "I think he's funny!" Born in Washington DC on January 7, 1939, the second oldest of 15 children, Maureen was a life-long caretaker. From the time she could hold a baby until she died, she was always taking care of or worrying over someone. As a caregiver, Maureen changed the world. She exemplified unconditional love, open communication, and honesty. Everyone that knew her was shaped by their relationship with her. They felt the love, experienced the comfort of the open communication, and grew strong in her honesty. Technically on paper, she was just a "homemaker," but the world knows she was truly a character builder. She is deeply missed by her children and grandchildren, by her brothers and sisters, by her nieces and nephews and by her life-long friends all over the country. Maureen and Carl will be interred together on Friday October 29, 2021 at 2:30 PM at the Crownsville Veterans' Cemetery. A party celebrating the love they shared, and the legacy they left behind will immediately follow at the American Legion in Severna Park, Maryland. All who knew Carl and Maureen are invited to join in the celebration. As Hawaii was their favorite vacation, the theme for the party is luau. Everyone is encouraged to wear festive colors and tropical prints.
