  • Notes
    • Traction Conductor and Farmer. The following history was copied by L.B. Moffett: Henry Moffettlived in Co Armagh, Ireland. In his family was one son named Henry who was born in Co Amagh, Ireland: his children were William, Samuel, John, Henry,Thomas, Jane and Nancy. William was born in Co Armagh, Ireland and was a half brother to the others. He went to America in 1785 and located in Granger Co, TN, entered into the mercantile business and was successful, accumulating considerable property; he sickened and died in 1801, leaving no immediate family. IN 1803 (early), the half brothers came to look after his property; all located in Tennessee; part of them are in Tennessee and part in Indiana. Samuel Moffett joined Capt Hunter's Tennessee Militia and served with it in the 1812 War; was not with Jackson at New Orleans fight as a great many Tennesseanswere on account of being quartered at Mobile, AL at the time the battle took place. They were near neighbors to Davy Crockett and have papers showing dealings with him. The only thing worthy of pride that I ever did was that I was Conductor on the Special Interrurban Train that took William Jennings Bryan on his whirlwind trip through the gas beltof Indiana in 1907, Oct 23.
