| Notes |
- Notes of Mike Moffat, grandson of Edgar Cyrus Moffat:
I was very fortunate to have him {Edgar} for a Grandfather. He looked like he did in all of these pictures for as long as I can remember. My mother adored him. I never saw him get really mad. He never cursed. He was tough though. I remember when he was about 75 years old, I walked into our bathroom only to see him pull two of his teeth with a pair of pliers and a ball pein hammer!!! He didn't need a dentist!!! He loved to work in the yard. Especially, in our garden. He really enjoyed fresh fruit and vegetables. And could he ever eat watermelon.. Mercy.. He dipped Copenhagen for as long as I can remember. He absolutely loved to go fishing. Yes, you could say that I was a very lucky boy to have "Grandpa Moffat" in my life.
It really hurt him when my dad had his heart attack and died. This was the only time that I ever saw Edgar cry. He kept saying that it just wasn't fair. He should have gone before my dad. My dad was only 50 years old when he died. I'll always have the greatest memories of my Grandfather. I just hope that I can give my grand kids the same kind of inspiration and influence that Edgar gave me.
Edgar's nickname was "Slim". He was always very thin and was around 6'2" tall. [2, 9]
