      ------ 000 ------

Probably published in a Thomas, Oklahoma, newspaper.
    • No brothers or sisters, according to a life insurance application completed in 1911.
Also, this document has recorded that Manley had the most resemblance to the characteristic of his mother. [9]
    • Ruby Estes Sisk recalls that her father did not fancy Maude “wasting” garden space with plants that did not bear edible fruits. The only flowers he would let her plant were Four O’Clocks.

07/06/2000 Ruby Estes Sisk says that her father had a mean streak. He was OK unless you did not want to do things his way, then he would cuss a blue streak. When Manley came to live with Ruby in his later years she had to put her foot down about the cussing, and he never crossed the line. Later Manley wanted to go to California to live with his son, which he did. Then Manley called Ruby and said he wanted to live with her again in Oklahoma City. She asked him to wait until she could get a fortnight’s vacation, but he died before this happened. Ruby said that Manley would have been quite a challenge had he been able to return with her to Oklahoma City. Manley was not close with his daughter, but he got along well with his son, despite quarreling.

Concerning Manley’s hobbies: He had few hobbies, but one time Isaac Randolph Sisk came over to the house. He took Manley and Lennard to hunt rabbits on Manley’s farm. They took Isaac’s car and drove zig-zag across the farm. Manley just sat there and “thought it was all right.”

      07/04/2000
Nona Neufeld Estes Eberhardt recalls that Manley and his son quarrelled frequenty concerning the method of farming. Manley wished to use the old way of farming, but Lennard was interested in the latest technology.

Manley smoked a pipe. Lived and helped work on Dr. Scudder’s (Presbyterian minister) farm but Manley had his own farm in Leedey.
    • Military Registration Certificate:
For Manley Thompsoon Estes of Leedey, Dewey County, Oklahoma, 12 September 1918.

Back side of card: “Local Scard for the County of Dewey, State of Okla. Taloga, Okla.”

Results from search for military records:
It appears that he never served in the armed forces, although he complied with draft registration requirements.
