Notes by Helen Elizabeth Youtzy White:
Eliza Moffat
Grandma Youtzy (Eliza) lived with us for a long time. She had a brother Lem, (I suppose it was Lemuel). He seems to be poor relations and finally went to the County Home for his last days. Don’t know any more about him.
Sue Cunningham (a sister of Eliza Belle) married and had 2 boys. The oldest was Oscar – wife Amanda. They had no children. Am sure he was a railroad man and lived near the Quad Cities. The youngest boy was called Ernie and he married and had 2 sons. Don’t know his name. They lived near Prophetstown, Illinois. Ernie had his own printing business. Sue came to our house to visit Grandma – both were widowed. She was pretty and nice to me (a small girl).
Grace Delaney is a daughter of one of Grandma’s brothers. She and her husband homesteaded in Oklahoma. I think they had quite a bit of land. Had cattle – must have been fenced as she told George (my Dad) that she rode fences (to keep from losing the cattle). They built a cabin – had dirt floors. She was a real pioneer. Her husband died early – but they did have a girl which they named Helen. Grace and a niece came to visit Dad and mom. They had a happy time and kept in touch for some time. Grace was a nurse and saw to it that her sisters’ girls were educated to be nurses. Two names come to mind, Fern (who married Hob Williams) and Ruby. I think Ruby was widowed when she came with Grace to visit (on her 2nd trip). Think Ruby lived near Normal or Norman, {it is Norman, but Ruby was in Oklahoma City} Oklahoma. Fern married Hob who had been a banker and went to farming in Arkansas. They had no children. My husband Woody and our 2 children went to visit Fern, Hob, and Grace on the farm. Spent a couple of days with them. Fern was a visiting nurse for the area and I went with her to call on people.
George A. Youtzy – died Nov. 1957, son of J.R. Youtzy and Eliza Belle Moffat born Jan 20, 1880 near Amboy, Illinois.
Bertha Youtzy daughter of J.R. Youtzy and Eliza Belle Moffat. Her birthday - I think May 20 a couple years older than George (her brother). She died around 1948. She and her husband C.H. Davis had a girl (named Armina) – born Nov 25, 1915 – She married and had 3 children, Charles, Marilyn, and Robert. She had leukemia and died around 1960.
George A. Youtzy married Stella Quaas June 14, 1911.
Their children are:
Helen Elizabeth Youtzy (White) 3/19/1913
Leah Ellen Youtzy (Zugschwerdt) 9/5/1917
LeRoy Earl Youtzy (called Earl) 1/30/1919
George Donald Youtzy (Reverend) 12/31/1923
Transcribed 20 April 2000 from a handwritten document of Helen Elizabeth Youtzy White received from her daughter Beth White Falen.
