  • Notes
    • Lorne Moffatt was a fraudlent criminal with a criminal record for various fraud offences. His first conviction was in Vancouver in 1939 when he received a 6 month sentence for theft. He was then convicted on Deal with a forged document (4 charges) and False Pretences (4 charges) for which he received 2 years concurrent on each charge and 6 months concurrent on each charge. He was again convicted in North Vancouver on June 5, 1946 of Fales pretences and received a 6 month sentence concurrent with sentence of June 4, 1946. On June 6, 1946 in New Westminster BC he received another 1 year concurrent with sentence of June 5th 1946 for uttering a forged document. On July 12, 1948 in Calgary Alta, he was convicted of False pretences and sencted to 3 months. On March 7th 1949, he was convicted of False Pretences (8 charges), Fraud, Attempt False Pretences and False Pretences where he received 3 years on each charge on #1-3 and 6 months concurrent on charge #4. Finally on March 10, 1949 he was convicted of 3 charges of False Pretences in Hamilton Ontario and received 1 months on each charge concurrent but consecutive to sentence dated March 7th, 1940.

Shortly after his final release, he travelled to Britain and married, supposedly, a daughter of a British Admiral and had two daughters. This was his second marriage and was a bigamous one as he had never received a divorce from his first wife Edna. He apparently died in violent circumstances about 1965 in Britain.

His Sister, Mary, would have little to do with him and his brother, Fraser, bailed him out of many financial messes prior to his leaving for Britain.
