  • Notes
    • [Adapted by Alaric Faulkner from reminiscences of Lizzie Tait Gallaher, Notes of Stella Fox Beam]

They [Lizzie and Thompson] settled on his Uncle Thompson Douglas's farm near Sabina [Ohio]--adjoining his father's homestead. Elizabeth Ann (Annie) was born there. She weighed 3 lbs. 2 ounces. Had to make all new clothes--his Aunt Lizzie came up to help--weighed only 12 pounds at one year--born in November 1867, Like a walking doll--talking, etc. early.

Stayed there till September following Annie's birth when they got the western fever with a lot of young couples--had to almost give away their new furniture and tools and implements. Started with a large team, covered wagon along with several other young soldier boys and their wives. The relatives cooked chickens etc. to last for several days. Starting for Nebraska.
