Mrs. Dyer, past city resident, dies at age 75
Mrs. Edwin Dyer, 75, former resident of Rock Island, died today at Moline Lutheran Hospital.
For the past four months, Mrs. Dyer had made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Richard E. Landreville, in Reynolds.
Funeral services for Mrs. Dyer will be conducted at 10 a.m. Monday at the Knox-Larson Funeral Home, Rock Island. Burial will be in Fairmount Cemetery, Davenport.
The Rev. Edward P. Nelson, pastor of the First Lutheran Church, Rock Island, will officate.
Friends may call at the funeral home after noon Sunday.
The former Bessie Norris, a daughter of John and Henrietta Sours Norris, she was born Oct. 4, 1897, in Virginia, Ill. At the age of 17, she moved to Davenport. She also lived in Detroit for seven years and in Aledo for a year before moving to Rock Island.
She was married to Edwin Dyer Feb 2, 1917, in Rock Island. He died Oct. 3, 1970.
In addition to her daughter in Reynolds, other survivors are two sons, Edward C. Dyer, Rock Island, and Delbert H. Dyer, Davenport; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and five brothers, Riley Norris, Davenport, and Earl, Wilbur, Garland and James Norris, Virginia. She also was preceded in death by a daughter and two sons. [1]
