  Text	Marjory Kingsbury Maffitt Jones was peacefully called to heaven to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on November 15, 2019. She is survived by her son, Rick Jones and his wife Sue, their sons Joe And Austin; daughter Cindi Kiser and husband Tommy, their son Thomas, and their daughter Melanie; and her special fur baby Lexie. Her husband, William Joseph Jones "Jody", passed before her in 2001. Marjory was born April 27, 1931 in Palestine, Texas to James Ulric "Shorty" and Marjory Jane Kingsbury Maffitt. She was their only child, but had a wonderful family with many aunts, uncles, and cousins which she dearly loved. She became an Episcopalian when she went to church with her friend Kaki. There she saw Jody Jones acolyting and thought "who's that?" He sure is good looking! He was the love of her life, and he adored her. She graduated from Palestine High School in 1949. She then went to SMU from 1948-1950 and was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma. She worked in the Anderson County Courthouse for DA John McDonald. When going to take a confession from a man that had killed a game warden, she was taken hostage for a short time, and was in an article in True Detective magazine. Jody and Marjory were married March 21, 1953 and Marjory had an adventurous life as a military wife. First stationed in Mt. Clemons, Michigan their son William Patrick was born in 1955. Next they were stationed in the Philippines where their daughter Cynthia Dian was born in 1957. They were then transferred to Stillwater, Oklahoma where Jody was an Air Force ROTC instructor. They really enjoyed living in Stillwater until 1962 when they were transferred to Reese A.F. Base in Lubbock, Texas. In 1966 they moved to Wichita, Ks while Jody was in F-105 training at McConnell A.F.B. for duty in Vietnam. After that Marjory and the children went back to Lubbock for nine months while dad was away in Thailand. Dad left on his birthday, Dec. 28,1966 and came home in August of 1967. Mom was so strong while dad was gone. When he returned, the family moved to Enid, Oklahoma from 1967-1971, while Jody was a flight instructor for the T-38 at Vance A.F.B. until 1970. Then, he retired from the Air Force and the family decided Stillwater was where they wanted to go. Both Jody and Marjory went back to college at O.S.U. to finish their education. Marjory majored in Art/English and earned her BS in 1975 and then achieved her Masters degree in Journalism in 1982. She taught Journalism at C.E. Donart, now Stillwater High School, from 1977-1993. In 1983 she was named Teacher of the Year, and in 1986, she won the Helen Thomas award for outstanding teaching and service to journalism education in the state of Oklahoma. Mrs. Jones, Mrs. J, Large Marge, little Marge, Mom, Mama, Gran, she wore many hats. She loved teaching journalism and she loved her students! She still remembered so many of them until her last breath, and was like a mother to many people. She was an excellent role model and mentor. Many of her students went on to major in Journalism in college, making their careers in Journalism from the experiences in her classroom. After she and Jody retired from teaching in 1993, they began traveling. They went to Red Lake more often, they went to a folk school in N. Carolina several times, which they thoroughly enjoyed. She became interested in genealogy. They joined Clan Moffat, Of course, Marjory became the secretary. They went to Scotland twice, and convened the Tulsa Scottish Games for many years. They went to Washington DC, the Smithsonian, Scottish games in Alexandria, VA and others until Jody's passing in 2001. After that, Cindi went with her to Scotland and Nova Scotia. She later took the whole family yo Scotland, twice, to learn about family roots. She always enjoyed reading, gardening, antiques, drawing, watercolor painting, photography, cooking, and friends.
