Notes |
- Civil Engineer. Mr. Peter Moffat, a nephew of Mr. John Moffat, of the firm of Moffat and Young, was found dead shortly after breakfast on Sunday morning. Death was at first attributed to heart disease, but the medical inquiry proves that the deceased committed suicide by taking poison. He had been very despondent since the death of his wife, and his mental distress was intensified by the recent death of his mother and aunt. The young gentleman was extremely well liked, and his death casts quite a gloom over the community. (Brisbane Courier 29 May 1889 p 5; Toowoomba Chronicle & Darling Downs General Advertiser Thurs 30 May 1889 p 3)
