- 05/29/2000: Sarah Berneice Harman Armstrong recalls that Maude was always in high spirits. She always laughed and smiled. This was a perfect complement to Manley’s serious, sometimes cranky, disposition.
07/06/2000 Ruby Estes Sisk says that her mother, Maude Moffat Estes, was of an ever cheerful and tolerant disposition, and not one to “rule the roost”, as was Grace Moffat DeLaney. Ruby says that Aunt Grace “ruled the roost” wherever she went. Grace lived with Hobert and Fern Williams until Fern retired from nursing, then she went to live with Sarah Berneice Harman Armstrong.

- My dad remembers Grace Delaney well and her father, Cyrus, too & the
place where they farmed. He also remembers parking his bike at Maud &
Manley Estes' house many times & walking to the movie in downtown
Thomas. [9]
- From Sandra Mae Horton Basham:
According to my Dad, Maude & Manley Estes farmed near Leedey for years. When Grace Moffat Delaney moved off the farm, Maude & Manley moved to the Moffat place (2 miles west of Thomas) & began to farm it. It was the same section as my Mom grew up with her family-her mom, brother & sister, and Great Uncle & Aunt (Mick & May Groat). Dad's family (Horton's) lived another mile west & I/2 north.
Mom remembers that Maude suffered from frequent, severe nosebleeds. When she would get a nosebleed, Manley would hang one sheet on the clothesline to signal Aunt May Groat to call Dr. Ryan. He would come out & pack Maude's nose.
One time after they got a phone, Maude called Aunt May & invited the family over to listen to the Joe Lewis fight with Max Smelling on the radio, They went, of course, and the fight only lasted 5 minutes. Lewis K.O.d Smelling almost immediately.
Mom & Dad recall one time the neighbors were all invited over to Maude & Manley's to celebrate Maude's birthday with cake & ice cream. Son, Leonard had requested her favorite song on the radio for her birthday - "How Beautiful Heaven Must Be". Maude was really pleased.
Your family (Moffets & Estes) & my family (Hortons & Fergusons) would thresh wheat & oats together every year. Hortons has a gasoline threshing machine, All the neighbors would help Hortons thresh; then Hortons would take the machine to the next neighbor & around till all the threshing was done. Whose ever field they were in the women of that farm would feed the threshing crew.
When Maude & Manley moved to Thomas they lived 1 block north & 1 block west of the lumberyard, Dad & Frank & some of the neighborhood boys would ride their bicycles to Thomas to the show. They would park their bikes by Maude & Manley's porch so no one would bother them & walk down to the show on main street.
According to Dad, Ruby & Fern Estes spent a lot of time at the Horton place - Ruby & Fern Horton were the same age & good friends. Dad says they had lots of picnics & general fun
After the war, your grandmother, Ruby, bought a bicycle from my dad for one of her kids.
- Muzzetta is an area in Italy. Also, there is a character named Muzzetta in Puccini’s La Boheme.
