Notes |
- Ossanna was named after a cousin, Ossa Headley Ralston and an aunt, Anna Headley Scherer--putting the two names together [2]
- Letter from Ossanna dated 06/24/2000:
My father and mother came to Colorado in a covered wagon. They had one child, my oldest sister, Martha.
Dad built a sod house there, and I was born in that sod house. We then made a three-bedroom house and moved into it when I was very young. I do remember that the sod house was my play house for several years.
- Every time my family visited grandpa, aunt Grace, and aunt Maude, dad always took all six of us kids to visit an Indian chief on the reservation somewhere. Never forget one time we were in his very humble house, and my father called him by name, asking what he had cooking. He showed us a large kettle of still-born pigs. He invited us for dinner, but we declined, thank goodness. We were all scared dad would say yes.
Letter from Ossanna dated 15 July 2000.
