- Janet [Tait Miller] lived in her own little house in Foster Brook. A few years after Will [Miller] died she married Eugene Vining, a widower with one child, Jennie. They lived in a house in Foster Brook that Eugene built. They lived there some years--bought a farm at Little Valley and couldn't pay for it and lost it. Got another in Napoli [NY]) and traded it for a third--near Faulkner [Falconer, NY, next to Poland Center]--2 mi. from Anna. There he and Janet lived till he died, maybe five or six years.
The 1860 Federal Census for Girard Twp, Erie, PA. lists Eugene Vining (10) born in New York apparently with his mother (?) Loomia Vining (42) no occupation givien, personal estate of $200, and his siter Mary E. Vining (6), born in New York.
The 1870 Federal Census for Poland Town, Chatauqua, N.Y. lists Eugene Vining (20, works on farm) born in New York working on the farm of Ethan Stone (43) and apparently single.
The 1910 Federal Census for Poland Town, Chatauqua, N.Y. lists Eugene I. Vining (55, general farmer) born in New York of US parents, having been in the present marriage for 19 years. With him are his wife Janette (55) married for 19 years, born in Scotland of Scots-English parents, immigrated in 1860 [!], no occupation., , , [2, 3, 4]
