- In browsing through the Internet in search of anything relating to Charles BINNS I came across your site stating that a Charles BINNS was married to a Martha MOFFAT. I am a great-great grandson of a Charles Binns who married a Martha MOFFETT. Both came from Leesburg, Loudoun County, Virginia; they were married on 17 June 1819 in Leesburg, Virginia; they moved to Ross County, Ohio, where Charles Binns died on 8 April 1846; Martha, his wife died there on 25 March 1872; both are buried with several of their sons who died during the Civil War; the sons served in various regiments of the Ohio volunteer Infantry. At least three of their sons died from an assortment of diseases during the Civil War. One of their five sons who served during the war was my great-grandfather, Charles Binns.
Charles, his wife Martha, and at least three of their sons are buried in the Moore Cemetery which is just west of Chillicothe, Ross County, Ohio.
This family had the following 10 children, listed in order of birth: John, Charles, Mary, Martha, Josiah, William, Douglas, James, Andrew, Simon.
Josiah died in Marietta, GA, of Typhoid Fever
James died at Barton Furnace, near Altoona , GA, of Typhoid Fever
Andrew died in Chattanooga, TN of Pneumonia [1]
