- 1860 Emma was born January 30th at Comodale, Ramsey County, Minnesota.
1882 Graduated from the University of Minnesota with a B. in Lit.
Emma is the founder of Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority at the University of Minnesota.
She then "Proved up" on a claim in the Dakotas, sold it, and used the proceeds to take a trip by Northern Pacific Railroad to Portland, Oregon, and then by steamer to California.
1885 Married Charles Chamberlain Lyford December 23rd in Minneapolis, Hennepin County, Minnesota.
1886 Daughter Stella Elizabeth Lyford is born.
1888 Son Dartt Hendrickson Lyford is born.
1889 Son Kenneth Lyford is born.
1889 Her husband's school, Northwestern Veterinary College is burned down by a disgruntled stable boy. The Fire consumes the college, offices, stables and horses, including a very expensive stallion he had just bought to stud, but hadn't insured or completely paid for. His loss came to 6 times his insurance coverage.
1896 Becomes a member of the Colonial Chapter of D.A.R. Emma
1897 Son Chester Dudley Lyford is born.
Emma was a member of the Ladies Social Circle of the Church of the Redeemer.
1915 Becomes a member of Clan Moffat.
1922 Emma leaves her husband, unaware that his behavior was caused by a brain tumor.
1926 Emma dies on March 11th in Minnesota from an infection in her jaw. She is buried at Oakland Cemetery in St. Paul. [5]
