Power Saw Kills Man At Virginia

VIRGINIA, March 15--Ira Dean Norris, 33, of Virginia, was injured fatally at 9:30 a.m. today when the rotary blade of a power saw, which he was operating, was hurled from its shaft and struck him in the head. He died in an ambulance en route to Schmidt Memorial hospital at Beardstown.
Norris was sawing wood in a timber on his farm south of Virginia. He was being assisted by another man, who was not injured. An inquest will be held in Virginia Thursday morning.
Norris was born in Virginia July 30, 1916, son of John and Henrietta Norris. His mother survives. Other survivors include his wife, Mrs. Sadie DeGroot Norris; two daughters, Bessie and Doris; nine brothers, Henry, George and Edward, all of Davenport, Ia.; James, Earl, John, Garland and Wilbert, all of Virginia; William, of Chicago, and one sister, Mrs. Edward Dyer, of Virginia.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Massie funeral home in Virginia. Rev. Wilber Allen, of the Virginia Lutheran church, will officiate and burial will be in Walnut Ridge cemetery.
