  Tom did not raise Bessie, per his wife's request on her death bed. Bessie was raised by her Maternal grandparents, William and Ella McGlothlin. Bessie was a graduate of Midwest Business College in Pueblo, CO. After her husband's heart attack in 1950 she assisted him in their accounting business; after his death she became a computerized typesetter for the Fowler Tribune. She retired from the Tribune when she was 80 years old (1992). Jim and Bessie eloped to San Luis, CO. with Wilson and Wilma Duff as witnesses. Wilson is stepbrother to Bessie. [1]
