• Notes

  Actually Andrew and Agnes's oldest son, Andrew (1885-1946) was born about fourteen months before his parents were married. According to the younger Andrew's birth certificate (B789/1885/49), he was the illegitimate son of Andrew Moffat, general laborer of 13 Oliver Cres and Agnes Scott (Hilson), tweed mender, of #3 Under Village, Hawick where baby Andrew was born 01 Nov 1885. This Andrew, who was my grandfather, always thought that he had been born 01 Nov 1887, so he was actually older than he knew. [Source 935] [1]
